Reflection of My Recent Learning & Growth

07/03/2020

Reflecting back to only five short weeks ago, I think about how far I've come and how much I have truly learned. This has been such a wonderful experience and it has allowed me to grow and get out of my comfort zone and experience so many new and fun things. Through this experience, I have learned the benefits of building, creating, and utilizing an ePortfolio. The process of choosing which platform, what designs, the layout, and the overall  creation process at its entirety was a great insight into things I can carry over to my classroom.

When I transitioned from my Administration classes to the DLL (digital leading and learning) classes for my masters program through Lamar, I hadn't taken the "pre-req" 5302, Learning Mindset. I was very overwhelmed because I felt that I had missed a big gap of information into understanding the importance of becoming a successful digital learner. I am extremely thankful for the group I was a part of for the last five weeks. We were able to collaborate and discuss a variety of things. Getting to collaborate with that group of women and hearing their own experiences from teaching, grad school, and life in general is something I will cherish forever. I hope they know they helped me more than I could have ever imagined.

Through this course, ePortfolio, 5303, I have created an ePortfolio that demonstrates who I am as an educator and on going learner. I started with a blank slate, nothing but a white screen and endless opportunities. To see my ePortfolio slowly come to life has been encouraging and allowed me to see how far I've come, if only I had started sooner. I have had the opportunity to learn about the COVA and CSLE model. Although I was pretty hesitant at first, allowing me to have choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity through this entire process has allowed me to take pride in the work I have put in to this. The COVA and CSLE approach is something I look forward to implementing in my classroom this year to allow my students to feel the same empowerment and success that I have felt.

With the current pandemic going on, the start of school and those expectations are still a little worrisome, unfortunately, because we are still unsure of what that is going to look like exactly. Having created this site, it will allow me to use it to communicate more effectively with my students and parents. I am excited to continue my progression through the DLL courses through Lamar to help better prepare me as an educator to improve my instructional strategies in the classroom. Until my next course, I will continue to grow and improve this site. Thanks for checking in!
