To me, the meaning of being comfortable with being uncomfortable is letting yourself grow and not being afraid to experience new things, pushing yourself to get out of your comfort zone in order to see what you are truly capable of! Mistakes are proof that you are trying to improve yourself! I have had to learn to accept the fact that it is okay to make mistakes; they allow me to reflect on what I have done to grow and improve for the future. Being a lifelong learner has been incredibly impactful this year. This year teachers everywhere are having to acquire many new skills. Having the opportunity to collaborate with others allows there to be shared experiences. You can see what works well for some, what does not work well for others, and how to figure out what ways work best so you can move forward. I have recently learned about the importance of a growth mindset. There have been many instances throughout this season of teaching this year that I have caught myself stuck with a fixed mindset. I have learned how to pay attention and alter that thinking to a growth mindset. I have learned the importance of being open-minded and having a positive attitude. This has been the same with my students. They get so frustrated and tend to shut down when dealt with a challenging task, but I have implemented how to adjust their thinking to tackle those problematic tasks. I frequently catch myself telling my students and colleagues that we can get through this together if we work hard and push ourselves. To be successful, we have to be a team and have each others' backs. This helps build a sense of comfort and security as we navigate through these unchartered waters together.
